The Art of Loving
by Chiara Lubich
In disarmingly simple down-to-earth language
Chiara Lubich draws her
readers into the very heart of evangelical love and gently
challenges them to start living it. She never tires of repeating
the ideas that shine through each of the texts collected
in this volume. Even to the last, she urged those around
her to spread the Gospel message of unity and peace to all.
The few simple phrases that make up her Art of Loving, drawn
from the
Gospels, disclose the secret of human fulfillment found
in divine love: “Love everyone,” “Be the
first to love.”
Price: 315 pesos

When The Word Becomes Life
by
Chiara Lubich
This book offers readers a glimpse of the
soul of Chiara Lubich, who gave life to a worldwide Movement
of men, women, and children from all walks of life - people
who have come together in living the Gospel. Chiara’s
language is spiritual, at times mystical, but always practical.
These short reflections lead the reader into the very heart
of the Good News, to the discovery of that Light which is
ever ancient, ever new – the Light and beauty that
Chiara discovered shining beneath every word of the Gospel:
Jesus, the Word, the Light for every person who comes into
this world.
Price: 125 pesos

I
still don’t understand what the phrase
the "will of God" means. I don’t
believe that sufferings come from God. Is
it really the will of God when we experience
illnesses, or an accident? Yet God doesn’t
want sickness or accidents. He has a good
design for each of us and he uses each event
and every occasion for us to realize his
design for us. Isn’t it so?
Our 16 year-old daughter has stolen a small
amount of money from the house. She denies
it and reacts strongly when we bring up
the topic. Is it better to just ignore what
has happened?

In
this issue we examine the issue of law in the
light of Christian living. We start with the
Pope, who, in a
recent audience, encouraged the promotion of
a culture of legality in order to help citizens
understand that
law exists to channel the many positive energies
in society, and thus to promote the common good.

Justice
is necessary, but not sufficient. It can and
must be overcome by the law of Charity, which
is the law of love, the love for one’s
neighbor and for God – the neighbor as
the image of God. The law is made for man, not
man for the law.
- Judge Livatino.

The
Word of God was an essential element in the
life of the Focolare right from the very beginning
when the first small community was emerging
amidst the ruins of war-torn Trent. In this
extract Chiara Lubich explains how they realized
that to love God they had to do his will, and
to do his will, they had to live his Word.

Inclusiveness.
Lillibeth Navarro is convinced that real change
comes about when one goes beyond one’s
own immediate concerns to include those who
seek justice in other areas of inequality as
well. She was named “Woman of the Year”
by the California State Legislature and the
Philippine government has also named her as
one of the 24 Most Outstanding Filipinos Overseas.
