To
encourage hope |
| |
As the world celebrates Barack Obama’s win
in the historic 2008 US Elections, we cannot but
be taken by the audacity of hope proposed and
lived by this man as he overcame all odds to attain
this victory. Why does the world celebrate his
victory? Perhaps it’s because Obama symbolizes
our hope for a world without discrimination, one
of justice and real brotherhood. But we know that
this euphoria will sooner or later subside when
faced with harsh reality, especially at this point
in history when the world is experiencing a global
economic crunch.

I
have a GAY COLLEAGUE
Self-Denial vs. SELF-FULFILLMENT |
|
“Very
much involved in social and religious works,
I also have a job in a school. In my workplace,
there’s a gay colleague with whom
I have a good friendship and we share many
values together. A long time ago he also
introduced his companion to me. They are
both very sensible persons searching for
the meaning of life and of their relationship.
Would it be useful to give him a good book
about fi nding real meaning in life? What
can I do to build ‘relationships of
fraternity’ with these brothers, loving
them without judging them, yet also helping
them understand God’s proper design
on sexuality?”
Big Brother
“I often hear psychologists speak
about self-fulfi llment.
Priests instead, talk about our denying
ourselves. Who is right?”
Kiko, Quezon City

God,
please bring PEACE |
| |
Hailing
from Davao City, Philippines, Nada and James have
been married for 13 years and have 3 young children.
They show how the life of unity is truly invaluable
to their personal life as Christians, and also
as a family, with the many challenges they face
daily. It helps them see things from the perspective
